Get to the Point!

I really like power point presentations when they are done well. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people write out sentences in the presentations and then just read from them. This sort of use takes away from the point.

On the flip side I've seen some really awesome presentations. Graphs, pictures, links, and bulleted points can make for a great aid. There is a fine line when using power point features. Too many graphics, slide transitions, special word effects, sounds, fonts, and colors can be too overwhelming.

I think overall power point and presentations tools are great. I think that everyone should learn the proper use of these tools.

Do you copy?! Coming in loud and clear!

I really liked the Disney parody for copyright and fair use. I think that was a fun way to learn and it would be a great way to teach younger kids about a pretty difficult subject matter. I've taken a couple Business Law classes and I still got some of the answers in the copyright quiz wrong!

I think the Internet Detectives site was a good tool but I found it a little boring to follow along with. Some of it was so basic I was really grateful to have the side bar option so I could skip through.

How would some of you deal with copyright issues in a classroom? There seem to be so many rules that it makes it hard for us to keep up, let alone younger children!

Degree: Take Two...Education: Take One!

I feel like I'm starting in the middle of an Education degree. Due to an unfortunate mix-up, I wasn't able to register for classes until the last minute. How am I suppose to know if I want to be an Ed. major without taking a foundations class?! I suppose if I make it through these first few classes that I'll have a better idea. Nothing like starting with the harder ones! At this point everyone seems to have some sort of experience in schools, I do not.

Here goes nothing...
